Authentic 1920s radio receptor kit. The system uses a delicate "catswhisker" wire positioned against crystalline galena that functioned as a passive diode. The mechanism rectified AM signals directly into audio output, delivering sound without requiring any power source. Crystal radio receivers  remained the preferred choice throughout the early twentieth century until vacuum tube amplification technology emerged to dominate the market.

The tin itself is highly collectible, and is in excellent condition. It contains 7 galena crystals, and the catswhisker mount (catswhisker wire, tweezers and directions not present).

Dimensions of tin: 4.2 x 3.3 x 1.5 cm
