Matching pair of Napoleon III opaline Grand Tour scent bottles

Matching pair of French opaline glass scent bottles, Napoleon III era (mid-19th century). Blue/turquoise opaline or "milk" glass, semi-translucent which gives it a gem-like quality (especially under transmitted light as seen on some of the photographs). Delicate chased and repousse brass lids, openwork hinged caps, and fitted ground glass stoppers. 

Originally made as high end souvenirs for young gentlemen and ladies on the 'Grand Tour' of Europe. These were manufactured by the Palais Royal, and parallels for the glass and metalwork can be found in Les Opalines, by Vincedeau. 

Originally the bottle caps likely held miniature scenes in insets, now missing from this pair.
